WHAT DOES “CHEAP GRACE” MEAN?

“Dave, what do people mean when they use the expression ‘cheap grace’?”
Charlie Bing does a great job responding to this.
“The term cheap grace is sometimes used in a derogatory way to describe the teaching that grace is free. Just like with costly grace, cheap grace is not biblical. Grace is neither costly nor cheap; it is free. Those who teach free grace are teaching exactly what the Bible teaches. The Bible does speak of those who despise or abuse God’s grace, and in that way, they might ‘cheapen’ what value it has in their lives. But those who present eternal salvation as absolutely free are not cheapening grace at all. Free grace does not denigrate God or His salvation. On the contrary, it glorifies God and His incomprehensible and unexplainable love, and it motivates us to the sincerest worship and godliest living. Grace is not costly, cheap, or complicated; it is simple and free.”
