LOSS OF SALVATION IN NUMBERS 16?

READING TIME: 1 MINUTE
“Dave, I’m heard some say that when Korah and the others were punished in Numbers 16, they lost their salvation. Please explain.”
Numbers 16 describes the rebellion of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram against Moses’s authority and the Lord’s punishment of them.
In keeping with Old Testament law, and highlighting how God took personally and seriously the people’s complaints against His designated spiritual leadership led by these three men, “a fire came out from the LORD and consumed the two hundred and fifty men who were offering incense” (v. 35). Again, this passage does not indicate whether they were genuine believers or not, nor does it comment on any alleged loss of salvation. Physical punishment from God cannot be equated with the loss of salvation as this would falsely lead one to believe that all the people who died in the Genesis Flood (Gen. 6-8) were saved and then lost their salvation. That would be ridiculous.
