Dave, in my workplace I work with several difficult people. Could you please share with me Biblical principles to help me?
How To Deal with Difficult People
A. Draw strength from the Lord when dealing with angry people – 1 Samuel 30:6
B. Look in the mirror; examine yourself – Matthew 7:3-5
C. Use discretion in confronting – Proverbs 19:11
D. Listen carefully – James 1:19-20
E. Exercise humility – Philippians 2:3-4
F. Show unconditional love – Proverbs 10:12; 1 Peter 4:8
G. Pray for God to soften their hearts – Matthew 5:44-45
H. Expect to give rather than receive – Acts 20:35
I. If at all possible, pursue peace, but never at the price of the sacrifice of truth or the compromise of a principle – Romans 12:18.
J. Never retaliate – Matthew 5:38-42; Romans 12:19-20
K. Speak with gentleness, grace, and respect – Proverbs 15:1; Ephesians 4:15; Colossians 4:6
L. Follow the pattern of Matthew 18:15-17
M. Realize it might be wise to be silent – Proverbs 11:12
N. Be aware that the difficult person’s argument might not be with you – 1 Samuel 8:7-8
O. Realize that sometimes it’s wise to agree to disagree – Acts 15:37-40
